Sad news. =[

Hey everyone I dedicate this post to Alex Joy. He died today in a car accident. We weren't really friends but it's still sad. Sharing the same classes with him was fun and I'll miss him dearly.

R.I.P Alex!!

*sigh* onto something brighter now. I'm gonna change my layout again before school starts and I want your input, so please take the survey. Make sure to choose a color AND design. That's about it everyone.

Busy Blogger....I wish

Today went a little differently than my usual routine. I had an appointment with my optometrist, she says that I need a stronger perscription, which I new. She also said that without my glasses I'm "half blind" I don't know what that means exactly, but I'm pretty sure it's bad. Other than that things went fine. I get my new glasses on the 19th.

Now onto the point of which this particular blog was written. My blog feels a little empty. What things do you think I should add? I'll take all suggestions into consideration. I wanna try something new so feel free to mention anything. I'm planning on reading more very soon. I don't know what's with me, but I haven't been in the mood to read for a while. I guess it's my lack of new reading material.

My schedule is pretty empty 'till the 19th which is the day i get my glasses and have my high school orientation. School starts on the 20th. ugh, so soon! I won't be able to read and do other leisurely things as often. Well umm that's about it.....gimme your suggestions!

All-American Girl by Meg Cabot

I'm writing this review just like I promised. I finished the book about 15 minutes ago and it's fresh in my mind. I must admit to you that months ago I read Ready Or Not which is the sequel to All-American Girl. So there was no worrying if Sam would end up with David. Okay here I go.

Top Ten Reasons Samantha Madison is in Deep Trouble
10. Her big sister is the most popular girl in school
9. Her little sister is a certified genius
8. She's in love with her big sister's boyfriend
7. She got caught selling celebrity portraits in school
6. And now she's being forced to take art classes
5. She's just saved the president of the United States from an assassination attempt
4. So the whole world thinks she is a hero
3. Even though Sam knows she is far, far from being a hero
2. And now she's been appointed teen ambassador to the UN
And the number-one reason Sam's life is over?
1. The president's son just might be in love with her

(Summary from back of the book because I'm no good at summary's. Please forgive me. =D)

The book was very unrealistic in two ways. One of which was good and the other bad. The whole saving-the-president-and-his-son-falling-in-love-with-you thing was great. That chosen story line was different and overall very enjoyable. It was fun reading about something that would never happen to me. Meg was very creative while writing this book, but now thinking about it are any of her book realistic? Not really. The part that I didn't like was that Sam was so blind about David liking her. I mean it was so obvious! It kind of got annoying how Sam would get mad or annoyed while David was obviously flirting with her. Also some of the characters were under-developed. I would have loved to get to know Catherine and Rebecca. Overall though the book was very well written and I enjoyed reading it.

Background, School, and American Teenagers

Hehe. I know i just changed the look of my blogger but here i go again! I just love to change the design. Kelsey changed hers and it looks GREAT! So i was like "I wanna change too!" So here I am. I hope you like it. If you have any suggestions feel free to e-mail me. Another review will be up soon.

I just found out my homeroom for when school starts, and I'm not with any of my friends. I guess I'll use the opportunity to get to know new people.

I'm currently watching The Secret Life of the American Teenager. I like the show but it's all a little unrealistic to me. I mean who would make these awful decisions? I guess naughty children like them. Don't get me wrong I'm all about love but who proposes to someone when they're only 15? I'm only 15 and I can't even think about getting married.

The Girlfriend Project by Robin Friedman

Over the summer Reed Walton turns...well, hot. Reed is used to being the geek. The guy no one but his best friends would talk to, but now he's the hot topic. How is Reed supposed to understand why people like him now? He is still the same Reed on the inside. Reed's friends Ronnie and Lonnie try to help him understand, which leads them to creating a dating site just for Reed called The Girlfriend Project. But Reed is reluctant to work with them, he just wants to be himself. Reeds overcomes many hilarious obstacles in this novel.

I couldn't help but love this book. It was fun to read about the inner geek in Reed. The book made me want to give everyone a chance no matter how different they were, because they just might be a pretty cool person. Reed kept making me laugh with all his witty remarks. My only complaint about this book would be that it was predictable. I knew what was going to happen before it did.

I think I'll give this book 3 out of 5 muffins!

YESSS!!

I just went on Borders.com to check out which of the books I wanted were in my price range and i noticed that one of the books that were on my "not available in store, must order online" list was FINALLY in the store! *throws confetti* It's an older book but i still wanna read it! Now all I have to do is find a way to get a little extra cash and a ride to Borders. Which sounds a lot easier than it is. Ohhh well it's totally worth it!

Moving on to other news. I made my blog look nifty! Finally I have it mastered! Ugh after all the hard work I still don't have any comments or anything. hmm I guess I'll have to wait some more.

Happy reading!

Must.Go.To.Borders.Now!

gahh! I have so many books that I want to read it's driving me crazy! I'm only 15 though so it's impossible for me to earn money. To get the books I want I usually just beg my mom or brother. Today, this isn't working. Note to self: find a way to earn a allowance. I've added a slide show of the books I would like to read. I hope it gives you some ideas. The first one I'm going to buy is 13 Reasons Why. It's supposed to be REALLY good. Plus I'm in the mood for a more serious book.

School begins in less than 2 weeks =/ I like school more than most people but that does not mean i want summer vacation to end so soon! I still have to go school shopping, which i have no idea when I'll do. Also with school beginning I'll have less time for personal reading. The school better choose some good literature. At least challenge us this year. But of course the books we'll end up reading won't be the books I enjoy most. Ohh well what can you expect?

My friend Taylor has caught the blogging bug! She signed up on blogger today! I added her to my site list, so make sure to check her out. Even though i doubt anyone is even checking MY blog out. *shrugs* they will soon. I hope.

Well I'm off to advertise my blog!

Way to go E. Lockhart!

One of my favorite authors is E. Lockhart. She's the author that got me addicted to reading YA novels. It's so easy to get pulled into one of her books. Each of them is like %50 comedy %20 drama %10 boys %10 kissing %5 life lessons and %5 best friends. The books are so funny that you won't want to put them down.

The first book of hers that i read is The Boyfriend List. It's about a girl named Ruby who begins to go to a shrink and talks about all the boys who had any impact in her life. Her bestfriend Kanga starts to go out with her newly ex-boyfriend. After that all hell breaks loose and Ruby is left on her own. This is a book that can show you how drastically your friends can change.

Next i read The Boy Book. This is pretty much a continuation of The Boyfriend List. Ruby has moved on and is feeling better about herself. But she remembers entries she and her friends used to make about boys. Advice and theories are used to make this book more compelling.

After those came Fly On The Wall. This had to be my favorite E. Lockhart book. The story is about Gretchen. Boys confuse her more than she would like. Gretchen has a huge crush on Titus. Too bad she feels like Titus doesn't like her. Gretchen wants to find out more about the art rats so she wishes to become a fly on the wall. And her wish comes true. This book was sooooo funny! I love the vocabulary the characters use. Such as "biscuits", "gherkins", and "workin that milkshake" It made me laugh sooo much! This book is great for reluctant readers.

Last but not least would be Dramarama. This book was a bit different than the rest. The main character discovers who she truly is and who she is not. Sadye gets acccepted to a summer drama camp. She meets some very interesting and different people but they don't meet the REAL her. She gains and loses friends. There truly is lots of drama, but there is also lot's of love and comedy.

Well I suppose that's about it for now. Comment and tell me what you think i should blog about next!!

Amanda

Wow...i have a blog

I've blogged on myspace and i dabbled in forums but now it's time for me to venture out into the blogging world. On this blog i'll talk about almost anything. Mostly books and things that i love....or hate..If you have any ideas please feel free to throw them at my face!

Ohh if you ever read this-Thank you so much Kelsey you're the one that inspired me to start my own blog. It will never be as swell as yours but it'll make me happy.

For now I think i'll blog alone but i'm thinking about finding me some co-bloggers to help me out. I'm not sure yet and it won't be for a while.

I guess i have some things to work on, so untill next time.
