Suddenly the consequences of Holly's choices are all too real, and Holly stands to lose more than she ever realized she had.

At OCD the losers are tormented.

At Alpha Academy, they're sent home.

Skye Hamilton has scored an invitation to the ultra-exclusive Alphas-only boarding school where beta is spelled LBR . What happens when the country's best, brightest, and hawtest begin clawing and scratching their way to the top?

----------------------------------------------------------

I definetly thought this book was going to be just like the Clique series, but thankfully it was so much more. It still had the lies and such but there was more of a purpose behind it.

Alphas was very creative in everything that had to do with the Academy. The Academy was so technologically advanced I was drooling. I couldn't help but want to go there.

We got to know a few main character and they all annoyed me at some point or another but mostly they were amusing. The only character that I deepy disliked was Shira who is the head of the whole Academy, she is so mean and tries to give people impossible choices, and thanks to her Alphas ends in a big cliff hanger. I'll definately be checking out the next book when it comes out.

Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick

For Nora Grey, romance was not part of the plan. She's never been particularly attracted to the boys at her school, no matter how much her best friend, Vee, pushes them at her. Not until Patch came along.

With his easy smile and eyes that seem to see inside her, Nora is drawn to him against her better judgment.

But after a series of terrifying encounters, Nora's not sure who to trust. Patch seems to be everywhere she is, and to know more about her than her closest friends. She can't decide whether she should fall into his arms or run and hide. And when she tries to seek some answers, she finds herself near a truth that is way more unsettling than anything Patch makes her feel.

For Nora is right in the middle of an ancient battle between the immortal and those that have fallen - and, when it comes to choosing sides, the wrong choice will cost her life.

The Name Game

Sometimes while reading a book I notice that the characters have names that I've read before. I thought it would be fun to point some out!

Today we have Frankies. Which Frankies? Well....

Frankie from The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks. She's witty and very independent. There's nothing getting past her. This Frankie is loyal and great at keeping secrets.

Our next Frankie is Anna's best friend in Twenty Boy Summer. This Frankie wasn't so awesome. She didn't support her friend until it was too late. Of course she had her good points..like knowing how to have a great time.

These Frankies are pretty darn cool. Can you think of anymore?

In the wake of her father’s death, Ash is left at the mercy of her cruel stepmother. Consumed with grief, her only joy comes by the light of the dying hearth fire, re-reading the fairy tales her mother once told her. In her dreams, someday the fairies will steal her away, as they are said to do. When she meets the dark and dangerous fairy Sidhean, she believes that her wish may be granted.

The day that Ash meets Kaisa, the King’s Huntress, her heart begins to change. Instead of chasing fairies, Ash learns to hunt with Kaisa. Though their friendship is as delicate as a new bloom, it reawakens Ash’s capacity for love—and her desire to live. But Sidhean has already claimed Ash for his own, and she must make a choice between fairy tale dreams and true love.

----------------------------------------------------------

Ash was absolutely beautiful. It had a very Cinderella feel but with a fantasy edge. I really liked reading a book that talks about fairies but doesn't have one for a main character.

Ash was a wonderful main character. We got to see her grow and become more independent throughout the entire novel. I really did love how fairies and other magical beings are incorporated into the story without taking it over. Intead we learned about them through bits and pieces from when Ash remembers something her mother told her, or when people are telling fairie tales.

You really had to feel for Ash, especially when you think all is going downhill for her. The whole book seemed really magical but still real. It is taken place somewhere I have never been but sounds wonderful. I would recommend Ash to anyone who wants to see the other side of fairies and their stories.

Sophie Blue started wearing a black skirt and Midnight Noir lipstick on her last birthday. It was also the day her father disappeared. Or spontaneously combusted. Which is sort of bad timing, since a Popsicle truck with tinted windows has started circling the house.

Kenny Fade is a basketball god. His sneakers cost more than his Jeep. He's the guy all the ladies (and their mommas) want. Bad.

Sophie Blue and Kenny Fade don't have a thing in common. Aside from being reasonably sure they're losing their minds.

----------------------------------------------------------
Fade to Blue totally messed up my mind. It automatically started out making very little sense. Everytime one of our questions was answered three more would be gained. I'm not saying that the book was bad, I'm just saying that it was really confusing.

Everything was happening all at once and the book had it's own sort of lingo which didn't help anything. When my friend asked me what I thought about the book the only way I could think of to describe it was "It was crazy and amazing and confusing but totally weird, and actually kinda awesome." Really it was creative and brought something totally new to the YA table.

Overall I would say that Fade to Blue was enormously creative and will probably blow your mind. Enjoy!

Living Dead Girl by Elizabeth Scott

Once upon a time, I was a little girl who disappeared.

Once upon a time, my name was not Alice.

Once upon a time, I didn't know how lucky I was.

When Alice was ten, Ray took her away from her family, her friends — her life. She learned to give up all power, to endure all pain. She waited for the nightmare to be over.

Now Alice is fifteen and Ray still has her, but he speaks more and more of her death. He does not know it is what she longs for. She does not know he has something more terrifying than death in mind for her.

This is Alice's story. It is one you have never heard, and one you will never, ever forget.

Cleopatra's Daughter by Michelle Moran

The marriage of Marc Antony and Cleopatra is one of the greatest love stories of all time, a tale of unbridled passion with earth-shaking political consequences. Feared and hunted by the powers in Rome, the lovers choose to die by their own hands as the triumphant armies of Antony’s revengeful rival, Octavian, sweep into Egypt. Their three orphaned children are taken in chains to Rome; only two– the ten-year-old twins Selene and Alexander–survive the journey. Delivered to the household of Octavian’s sister, the siblings cling to each other and to the hope that they will return one day to their rightful place on the throne of Egypt. As they come of age, they are buffeted by the personal ambitions of Octavian’s family and court, by the ever-present threat of slave rebellion, and by the longings and desires deep within their own hearts.

Six months...

Since Reggie first discovered the existence of the Vours in a tattered journal. Since her little brother Henry began to mutilate animals and turn against her. Since she learned to overcome her fear and destroyed a Vour to save Henry.

Months later, the Vours still haunt Reggie, but only in her dreams—until one night, when an unexpected visitor turns her nightmares into reality.

Terrifying, nail-biting, and grossly intriguing, readers will devour this thrilling sequel.

----------------------------------------------------------

I was excited when I started this book because I really enjoyed The Devouring, thankfully Soulstice did not disappoint. It started out good enough by answering a couple of our questions that were left from The Devouring. The middle got a little slow at points but it still managed to throw crazy plot developments at me. I was seriously surprised by some of the things that happen. I was glad that everything that happend wasn't just random filler, it had a reason behind it.

This review wouldn't be good if I didn't talk about the ending. Even though everything else was really good, it was the ending that leaves me begging for more. The ending was just so crazy...I can't tell you or I'll ruin it, but it's going to drive you insane thinking about what will happen next.

If you liked The Devouring, you'll love Soulstice. It gives you a mix of fear and suspense, and overall a really enjoyable read.

----------------------------------------------------------

Geektastic was so much fun to read. It was nice to read some geeky stuff and knowing that some of our favorite authors are geeks just like us.

The stories had a whole range of different types of geeks, but I couldn't choose a favorite. What I love about short stories are that if you're just not feeling it you can move on, but yet if you really like a story you won't get all that you want.

That was my only problem with Geektastic. It seemed that right when I was really getting into a story it ended. Sometimes I just wanted certain parts to be more elaborated.

Other than that Geektastic was funny, and witty. Overall a great way to see how awesome being a geek is.

Check out tomorrow's post to win one of two copies of Geektastic!

Quote: "I'm not saying that everything is survivable. Just that everything except the last thing is."

I will be posting from my phone for a couple of days most likely since we're getting a new computer charger. So I'll be doing a new quote everyday until I can steadily use the computer. Title: Ice
Author: Sarah Beth Durst
Release Date: October 06, 2009

When Cassie was a little girl, her grandmother told her a fairy tale about her mother, who made a deal with the Polar Bear King and was swept away to the ends of the earth. Now that Cassie is older, she knows the story was a nice way of saying her mother had died. Cassie lives with her father at an Arctic research station, is determined to become a scientist, and has no time for make-believe.

Then, on her eighteenth birthday, Cassie comes face-to-face with a polar bear who speaks to her. He tells her that her mother is alive, imprisoned at the ends of the earth. And he can bring her back — if Cassie will agree to be his bride.

That is the beginning of Cassie's own real-life fairy tale, one that sends her on an unbelievable journey across the brutal Arctic, through the Canadian boreal forest, and on the back of the North Wind to the land east of the sun and west of the moon. Before it is over, the world she knows will be swept away, and everything she holds dear will be taken from her — until she discovers the true meaning of love and family in the magical realm of Ice.

Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen has won the annual Hunger Games with fellow district tribute Peeta Mellark. But it was a victory won by defiance of the Capitol and their harsh rules. Katniss and Peeta should be happy. After all, they have just won for themselves and their families a life of safety and plenty. But there are rumors of rebellion among the subjects, and Katniss and Peeta, to their horror, are the faces of that rebellion. The Capitol is angry. The Capitol wants revenge.

----------------------------------------------------------

AMAZING! I am absolutely fangirling right about now. I finished reading the book at school after staying up late at night. I just couldn't bring myself to put it down. Thank god the teachers seemed to understand.

The love triangle between Katniss, Gale, and Peeta is still going strong, I can't even decide who I want her with more. All of the characters continue to grow excellently and we even get some characters slightly mentioned in the first book more explained.

I don't want to say too much so I don't ruin ALL of the huge plot twists and turns. My mouth was gaped open during the majority of my reading. So many unexpected things happen you wouldn't believe me if I told you. I was literally crying, and running around the house trying to explain it to my brother who was sleeping....since I couldn't call my friend because she didn't read it yet.

Overall I would say that Catching Fire is a must read. If you haven't read The Hunger Games yet you really need to. And if you did then pick up yourself a copy of Catching Fire NOW. No matter how great you thought The Hunger Games was, Catching Fire is even better.

One day, something’s going to snap. . . .
Ernie doesn't have a lot of friends at school. Just Will. They have stuff in common—like fishing. But more important, they have common enemies: the school jocks, who seem to find bullying just another sport.

For the most part, Ernie and Will take life at high school in stride. Until Will has one very bad day. Now nothing is remotely funny. Ernie finds himself a witness—to loss, to humiliation, and to Will’s anger—an anger that’s building each and every moment.

Ernie doesn’t want to believe his best friend is changing, but he can’t deny the truth. Soon he has a choice: join or die. Or can he find another way?

----------------------------------------------------------

Diary of a Witness was amazing. Catherine Ryan Hyde did a wonderful job of capturing the essence of a teen boy who isn't "cool" without making him sound pathetic. This books was a truly gripping read. Your heart ached for Will and sometimes even more for Ernie. You just wanted to give them some hugs. Both characters seemed so brave at times when the jocks were doing horrible things to them. Hyde had a way of telling a story that made you wonder at each point which way things were going to go. You could never try to predict the outcome.

There were several points of the story that made your heart beat fast and hope for the best. Your emotions will be on a wild ride while you read this hypnotizing read.

Every year a new generation of genetically-engineered children is shipped out to meet their parents. Every spring the residents of his town take down the snow they've stuck to their windows and put up flowers. Every morning his family gathers around their television and votes, like everyone else, for whatever matter of national importance the president has on the table. Today, it is the color of his drapes. It's business as usual under the protective dome of suburb HM1.

And it's all about to come crashing down.

Because a stranger has come to take away all the little children, including Martin's sister, Cassie, and no one wants to talk about where she has gone. The way Martin sees it, he has a choice. He can remain in the dubious safety of HM1, with danger that no one wants to talk about lurking just beneath the surface, or he can actually break out of the suburb, into the mysterious land outside, rumored to be nothing but blowing sand for miles upon miles.

----------------------------------------------------------

I just LOVE books like this. Books that have such an original and out of the box idea that I'm awed. This happens rarely. But I sure am glad when it does.

The whole idea of this book was just crazy. It's pretty much a world based on lies. Everyone is hiding their emotions from each other so they don't get punished. Martin is the only one who breaks free. Martin was an amazing main character, he was heroic. When everyone else ignored problems, he tackled them head on.

I could never see any of the plot twists coming because this was a whole new world. It wasn't just a few things that were changed, this book had a Hunger Games appeal.

It was funny seeing Martin adjust to the real world and blowing simple problems way out of proporation and running to seek health care when he doesn't need it. I couldn't help but feel frustrated, but I could also feel his fear and confusion.

Overall I would say Dunkle put a whole new spin on the world as we now it, and put a whole bunch of new ideas into my head.

When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder -- much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It's hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing -- not even a smear of blood -- to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?

This is Clary's first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It's also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace's world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know. . . .

----------------------------------------------------------

This series is starting out to be just as amazing as everyone else says it is. I was worried that it wouldn't live up to my expectations, but thankfully it surpassed them. I've been wanting to read this series for a while and I'm glad that I started.

Just like people tell me, Jace and Simon are hilarious. Whenever there was a low moment between all of the action we got some comedy from Jace or Simon. They always seemed to come up with things that I've always wanted to say. They're just so darn clever! Not only were they amazing, so was Clary. Clary was a strong independent character with a witty sense of humor. Also, she never did any of those annoying putting herself in danger things that I HATE when female characters do.

The whole premise of the book was original and intriguing. I'll be sure to check out the rest of the books very soon. If you've been waiting to read these books now would be a great time to start!
